Interfaith newsletter for (Cologne), Bonn and surrounding area 131 - 3 Addendum
(08.12.2008)

love readers,

Reinhard Kirste just congratulated the INTR ° A-newsletter for today's Muslims Sacrifice and the Mahayana Buddhist Bodhi to the present day. Which I agree with you. Such congratulations on religious festivals come in my newsletters usually too short, which is because I do not really pay attention to the festival calendar.

Explanation: On the Sacrifice Muslims commemorate the sacrifice that God was offering Ibrahim, namely a sheep instead of his son. Therefore, on this day many Muslims sacrifice sheep and distribute a portion of the meat in the community.
commemorate On Bodhi Day Buddhist awakening of Siddhartha. Many Buddhists - Theravadans, but also Tibetan Buddhists - celebrate it in May, many Mahayana Buddhists, but in December. It is celebrated differently, often meditated by extensively (I have before, now once again visit "my" Zen group, which has nothing to do with the date, but fits quite well) and discourses heard.

And now I have two dates.

Gender in Judaism, Christianity and Islam
Prof. Dr. Christina von Braun, Berlin
We are used to keep the sex of a biological, immutable fact. A comparison between the gender systems of the three religions of the book, however, shows how closely gender, sexuality and culture are intertwined. Hence the high emotions that raises this issue in the encounter of religions. The presentation will compare the symbolic gender order in Judaism, Christianity and Islam and show that these differences also affect the order of knowledge and the relationship to the image. - Cooperation: The Federation New Germany, Region Bonn, Bonn Catholic Student Group, University of Bonn, studying universal; Series: Science Forum Bonn.
Monday 26 January 2009, 20.00-21.30 clock
